A few weeks ago, I shared photos of my walk at Hanningfields Nature Reserve and Reservoir. We enjoyed it so much that we invited my sister, her husband and my niece to come with us a week later for a walk there. It was really nice to do this as I honestly don't think we've asked them to do something like this before
K headed instantly into Mr Toad's caravan.I scrutinized my surroundings to see what were the pertinent features.
Mr Ratty's boat...
Mr Badger's home...
and some pancake-like fungi.
We traipsed onwards...
Coming across our first Wind in the Willows carving, Kwas the model child, posing for a picture.
CBC and I were excited to have a go at the Brass rubbings and had the opportunity when K was a bit nervous of doing it wrong (silly really, but she is a worrier!)
You could buy a sheet to fill in with the rubbings.
The light streamed through the trees shedding a gentle light of hushed magnificence.
We headed into the first Hide for a peek.
More characters were to be sought.
It was delightful to spend time with my beautiful sister.
We headed into an opened out area with a little make-shift stick hut!
My Father-in-law was keen to point out the more base exhibits...
It made me giggle when K was willing to mimic Mole!
The Eye of Sauron was upon this tree which had been attacked with crayons!
Toad was a particular favourite.
I lingered behind having spotted some unexpected late blackberries.
This was half my haul!
Moving slowly trying to spy juicy blackberries meant I spotted a bright Ladybird.
This is one of my favourite views. You can creep through the trees to see straight onto the reservoir. Usually there is water up to this point.
I eventually caught up with my companions who were examining cows (sorry Sophie).
This tiny shiny beetle caught my eye.
I gathered these resplendent acorns which I polished with my sleeve and slowly dropped them one by one into my Brother-in-law's hood!
We made our way back eventually. It had been a beautiful walk and we were so glad to get out on such a fine Autumn day!
