Why is Spring always such a surprise each year? I was speaking to my sister-in-law about this today when we went over to see her and we said it is always such a surprise and joy each year. CBC and I have been very much enjoying our garden this week on holiday. It is sunny and beautiful. I thought I'd share a few little photos with you.
I always find the orange trumpeted ones especially comic!
These frilly ones remind me of a yellow tutu my sister had.
The long established guardians of this garden, the old trees tower impressively against a blue sky.
The blossom fills the branches like icing.
I totally forgot that this glorious pink shrub flowers early in the year!
The soundtrack to our Spring is a riotous din of birds galore- robins, blackbirds, collar doves, wood pigeons, chaffinches, starlings, great tits. The daring robin was constantly around my ankles as I was pruning back brambles, nettles, roses and raking leaves. Yet, despite being centimetres from me, as soon as I fetched the camera he was extremely skittish.
An unexpected visitor as we ate breakfast was this rather lengthy worm. He slid nonchalantly along. I'm not sure if he'd have been so nonchalant if we hadn't been there to protect him from the hungry birds.
A little spot of purple.
A sumptuous patch of hyacinths.
And by the trees, the odd Primrose.
A pink plant by the house.
Do you care to share your April garden with me? Please let me know if you do in the comments.
