This week, you get a TWOFER outfit. That's a Two outfits for the price/post of one!
First up, we have the Style Imitating Art inspiration for this week. It was chosen by Jen@ LibrarianforLifestyle and features this piece introduced in the words of Jen:
As soon as I saw it, the colour of the horn plus the black beaded detailing of the shoulder belt put me in mind of a Clara Oswald shirt I own. I don't really own any beige so this is the only piece I have and I realised that in fact, the whole outfit worn by Clara would be suitable for nodding to the Inspiration.
Here is the outfit featuring the beige diamond-print shirt, black scalloped shorts with black tight and shiny shoes plus a black satchel and she then wears a dark green hooded coat which has white buttons and a grey checked lining.
Here's a close-up.
And here is my version featuring pretty much the same items as Clara is wearing except that my coat is the alternative black version (which is actually more appropriate to the SIA piece.) and I forgot my satchel and my shoes are navy!
In case you are wondering about the Watering can, in the episode entitled, The Caretaker, Clara is worried as she sees the Doctor (disguised as the new Caretaker) talking to her boyfriend Danny Pink and she sneaks up, ostensibly watering the plants, but really ear-wigging on their conversation.
In terms of outfits, I've worn a version of this for school but with a short black skirt instead as these really ARE too short for school! Tut, tut Miss Oswald- work appropriate attire please!
This episode always makes me laugh and I have a special affection for this outfit as the shirt was my first ever screen accurate piece of Clara clothing! Who'd have thought I'd have so many a few years on!

This powder horn, ca. 1779–80, with wampum shoulder belt, ca. early 19th century. This horn is part of The Met’s public domain art collection. The style of engraving on this horn suggests that it was made by a Penobscot Indian, possibly for a Massachusetts soldier during the Penobscot expedition of 1779–80. Wampum belts, like the one associated with this horn, were used for trade among native peoples for centuries before the first Europeans arrived in the New World and then as currency between settlers and Indians from the mid-seventeenth century up to the early twentieth century. |

I tried to take two photos of the scene from the recording.
As you can see- because Jenna Coleman is soooo much shorter than me (and thinner), the shorts look longer and baggier on her. I might try to find a pair in the TALL range if I can as realistically, these are VERY short!
