Hi!
I came on here to share a cloud post but the photo hasn't come through and I'm not sure what else to write!
It's been a busy week but I have got some things done.
Two days with train strikes this week but luckily, on Wednesday, the first of them coincided with the teacher's strike. My union, the NASUWT chose not to strike but there's only 3 of us teachers at my school who are not NEU so my Headteacher told me to work from home as I wasn't teaching and I am making up the extra time I gained by giving my PPA on Fridays to other teachers. I was grateful. It's amazing, when I don't go to school, I am so full of energy and get loads done! It's when I stop that I realise just how much it takes out of me on a daily basis.
I had a lovely experience on that day as a parcel arrived from Ang with some things she had beautifully adjusted for me and then we had a chat on the phone which was a joy!
I made a large stir fry with some tempeh I got from Lidl for only £1.30 as part of Veganuary.
Today, I couldn't get to school till 9.20pm because of the strikes. It was a good day - my Year 6 pupils were performing their own ternary/binary structure pieces, inspired by the Baroque sonata. After that, I had to revideo 2 students who I have put forward for solos at our Royal Albert Hall concert in March. I recorded 7 of them last night at choir and had the difficult job of picking 2 to put forward for the chance. We're doing well with learning the songs for the Albert Hall- we've learnt all but 1 1/3 of the songs-next week I will need to complete the 3rd of that song and teach the final one.
Had a curious experience today as one of the year 6 girls, (who has quirky style),who often admires things I'm wearing (recently, I overheard her say, "Mrs *** has such good style!" as I walked down the corridor- I called back, "Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanks!") suddenly commented on the boots I was wearing and it turned out she'd been looking them up online as she wanted to get a pair like mine! It was flattering but slightly surprising!
Tomorrow, I am performing Brahms' requiem at a church near Bromley. I was going to stay at my Dad's tonight as it's not so far from him but because of the strikes, I couldn't get there so now I have to contend with Greater Anglia engineering works and it'll take me 3 hours to get to the rehearsal. Sigh. I will stay at Dad's after.
CBC is doing a concert with our local Essex orchestra. I wasn't needed for this concert as there are only 2 flutes, hence why I accepted the gig in Kent. Sadly, the lovely 1st flautist is ill so she phoned me today to ask if I was able to cover- I was so sad not to be able to help out.
CBC and I have some lovely plans for half term which I will tell you more about soon. Sadly, I've got to get my school reports done before that and some epic planning!!!
Eeek!
Right, I must get to bed as I have to get up early to trudge the epic journey to near Bromley!
