You're the one that I don't want

What's your opinion on when people say they are looking for "The one" or that their partner/husband/other is "The one". Do you believe in destiny? Do you believe that there is only one special and right person for us truly? Is it ordained by God who we will meet? What do you think will happen if we ignore the signs?
I've personally never felt that there was 'a one' for one person or that I was waiting for 'the one', I did believe that it was in God's hands but I am incredibly lucky to have found, got together with and married CBC who I loved dearly.
Charity shop bargains 1
Sorry about the piccie- I made a collage of it and can't find the original!
I recently blogged about finding this great Alexander Potter book in a charity shop.  If you've never read any of her books, they are chicklit with a twist.  Some strange, impossible event happens in them, or coincidence, or something else.  Either way, they all have a 'what if' element to them. In Me and Mr Darcy, the heroine in that book, getting over a break-up, ends up going to the past for short times and meeting and developing a relationship with Mr Darcy.  I've enjoyed all of them.

In this book, we begin with a flashback to 10 years prior, when Lucy meets American Nate in Venice.  It seems they cannot be together so they kiss under a bridge at sunset which is supposed to keep them together forever.

10 years later, Lucy is single and has moved to New York (so much Chicklit is set here- I kind of wish it was set elsewhere for once!) and then she and Nate meet again.  Spookily it appears that they have somehow missed each other on various occasions over the 10 years.  They get back together but things don't work out and then it seems the Universe is determined they will stay together.

I enjoyed this book, it's fun, rather predictable but with surprises and all sorts of interesting locations.  Lucy is an appealing, disorganised artistic type which is perhaps why I like her.  Nate is- well, I don't really like him- too anal!  The other main characters all have their own subplots and elements which are all crucial to the main storyline and character development, so it's not just a one-trick pony. I liked the magical element of this story and I did wonder whether Lucy and Nate would end up together forever.

Worth a read, methinks!
