One of the things I delight in at Christmas is the sheer artistry and beauty of shop fronts, especially independent ones.
We went to Herne Hill to celebrate Canopy Beer's 1st anniversary of opening on the 28th November and as we walked from our concert in Dulwich village to there, we saw this amazing bookshop, "Tales on Moon Lane."
LOOK at that amazing shop front- rather like the set from an opulent theatre production of Cinderella!
I was mesmerized and so disappointed that it was night time and I couldn't go in. Because children's books are my favourite thing.  I am so excited because we are starting a book club at school but one for children's books, perhaps so we could use these with the kids etc but really also just for the love of children's books. It will only be once a term so it doesn't become too onerous. I was given the chance to choose the first title so I chose Tom's midnight Garden since I dearly love that book!

Today was the big Christmas service at school.  The one I have been rehearsing for with the children since the start of November. All 270 children in KS2 walked the mile to the church and crowded in. We sang 13 songs including the first performance of the song I composed this year, "Join in our story,", traditional, modern, modern takes on old lyrics. The drumming club accompanied 'Riding on the ship of the desert' a song by a friend Suzanne with a funky interlude, recorders played Hark the herald,Rudolph, Joy to the world and Away in a Manger in 3 parts, 12 brave readers read my new script, 7 brave soloists sang verses from Once in Royal, the choir sang two songs about bells.  Everyone was very positive and said they felt very Christmassy now. I had a few moments of stress getting everything set up in time, but it was a wonderful day!!! So proud of my lovelies!
