It's been about half a term since my last multi-fungal post, apart from my foray into Jelly Ears last week so I thought I'd share some more of my recent finds.
In the last week of the holidays, CBC and I had 7 walks including a few in some woodland areas and I managed to spy a few examples of fungi- these were from the 30th December to a common and woodland walk.
If I haven't named any and you know them (Chas? Dave? Porcini?), feel free to enlighten me. I sent some of these to our camping crew (of 5!) from the Summer and CBC jumped in with some silly names for a few of the ones I will share over the next few weeks.
Away then.
These tiny curly examples were all over the log. No idea what they are called but possibly Plicatura Crispa.
Upon a bed of moss, I spied this upturned, delicate toodstool- didn't dare touch it in case it was poisonous, to see what its upper side was.
These intriguing specimens were over another log.
On the underside of the log, were these fellows poking downwards.
Here were some tiny examples of turkey fantail fungus.
I saw this example of an early formation of Yellow Brain fungus (Wembley, especially for you!)
It wasn't, however, the first I'd seen of it,..
There were a few more mature clumps of it on the tree which was visible from the main road right by when we parked- I could see these orange splodges as we parked and eagerly went to look.
Here was quite a satisfyingly large lump of it!
I've got a few more finds coming your way in the next week or so. Excited???
