Every so often, I like to look back at my blog archive (I realise I will have been blogging 15 years this April!). I often remember writing posts and look back with affection. This time, I don't remember writing this post or Mr Badger being there at this occasion, though now I remember the concert.
It is such a happy post (especially the video near the end) and I think we all need a bit of silliness and cheer right now so do read through and watch the video (and marvel at my virtuoso party squeaker playing!)
Mr Badger is at Not the last Knight of the Proms!
Mr Badger has been enjoying some cultural experiences.
Last Saturday, we took him along to the performance I was playing in, entitled "Not the last Knight of the proms!"
This was an event put on by the church in a village a few miles away from us and I was playing a flute duet with my friend A.
We rehearsed in the afternoon and then in the evening, we arrived to find the church decorated in merry splendour!
Mr Badger saw lots of events including a harp version of 'It's a small world'.He enjoyed watching the choir sing Disney medleys in the first half.
He looked askance when he saw how many fast notes I had to play towards the end of the flute duet with nowhere to breathe! He joined in with the applause at the end.
After the interval, I think what he loved best was the Hygge created by the loving affection with which the church was decorated in a riot of colours- flags, balloons, bunting for the recreation of the British Last Night of the proms! There was a comfortable, enjoyable vibe throughout!
Everyone came back to their seats happily and saw the change in decor!
And Mr Badger gleefully saw that party-poppers, screaming balloons and squeakers had been placed on the pews!
He grabbed a squeaker instantly! The fun thing about it, was everyone was encouraged to misbehave during this part of the concert, letting off balloons, party poppers, squeakers whenever they wanted.
Britannia came in triumphantly ready to sing 'Rule Brittania'
as did Mr Brittania.
The words were in the programme and Mr Badger joined in with all the classics such as
Jerusalem, Brittania, All through the Night, there's no place like home, Auld Lang Syne, Battle Hymn of the Republic and the Sailor's Hornpipe.
and balloons!
And he was very impressed that I discovered that I could use my party squeaker to emulate the last part of the tune of the Sailor's hornpipe!
Mr Badger decided that he'd very much like to come back in two years for the repeat performance!
xx
You are the best squeaker player ever! Hahaha! And I adore these photos of Mr. Badger enjoying the festivities, looking at the notes and blowing his own squeaker. I have also never seen a church looking so merry and festive - how wonderful! I think if people get married in a church, this is what it should look like.
ReplyDeleteHow delightful! I KNEW Mr. Badger could sing! He's having a wonderful time thanks to you!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like Mr Badger had a lot of fun while he's been with you!
ReplyDeleteCool! BTW, I listed you as a possible Halloween costume on my blog yesterday. I might be you this year!
ReplyDeleteIt was so nice, dear Kezzie, Mr Badger is so nice and saw so many things, very cultured! I liked the pictures and I would have loved to be at a concert, I am so much in need of good music! Thank you for tagging me about the brooches! I am a fan of brooches, you know, but I confess one thing :) When I place it on a dress - the cleavage, in fact - it's because it was too open, so that I put a brooch there, to close it :) But I will write a Brooch post, I promise! It can take a while, but I will! XXX

Its official, Mr. Badger has a better life than me. I wonder if he did some dancing during the performance. He looks like quite a dancer. And The Dancing Badger absolutely must be the name of a pub somewhere over there. Speaking of over there, you have been crossing my mind as I have been writing this epic historical poem of mine as I have begun pulling in a few characters from true British history to my tale. And you are the only one I can imagine might recognize them at this point in their lives. It is alot of reading and I know you are super busy, but if you ever get a chance I think you might like it. Enough shameless plugging, off to bed.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to see a church decorated like that and being used for a musical celebration - looks like a great event! xxx
ReplyDeleteHaha these photos are so cute, they made me giggle XD It's so cool how you play in all these concerts, I hope it went well :) xx
ReplyDeleteWell what an evening of fun and games you all enjoyed. Don't blmae Mr B for wanting to go back again.
