Fungi #4

Last week, I shared an installment of some fungi that I spied when out walking in the woods during the  Christmas holiday.  Today, I am sharing some findings from our New Year's Day walk.  We returned to the walk of 2 days before but earlier in the day to avoid walking in the dark at the end AND to go a bit further.

I got a little lost in the woods and lost my companion whilst I er- spent ages photographing fungi. I always see more when I am on my own! Couple me with an impatient jaguar and I see very little.

The first example, from a distance, looks JUST like Cashew nuts. In fact, the way they were spread on a log, if you weren't on FUNGI ALERT, you would have just dismissed them as such. But up close, they are known as Common Earthball fungi.  Not, Cashew Nut fungi!

During my 'lost' spell, I spied this clump of crispy morsels. I had to stretch my head through a bush of holly to even get this close at zoom! Plicatura Crispa I believe.

Next, I found a much better clump of Turkey Fantail fungus than the last lot.  The colours are more intense.

The next one is Birch Poly pore. I wondered if it was Hen of the Woods at first that is just forming but was corrected on this by my Fungi Guru!
I don't have a name for this next lot but don't you think that black jelly-like growth really resembles some evil character from the Hobbit?!

This was more of a browny-purple hue.
This clump was very beautiful! It looks very delicate like petals to me.

Any favourites here?  Can you help me with FungalID?!
