10 things to be grateful for:
1. Antiobiotics- I can't believe the different in pain levels since beginning taking the antibiotics. Would I live it the past without them? Absolutely not!
2. Rest and lie-ins:Sometimes CBC says we've wasted the day when we've woken up late in the holidays- not a bit of it. Yes, it would be good to be out and about, but I cherish lie-ins! I can't wait for one on Saturday!
3. The kindness of friends and family- alongside the amazing presents from family, I've received a few unexpected presents this Christmas: Hazel from Hazel's world of joy, Janet fromWords that can only be your own AND Zoe at Pennyblossoms sent me presents because they couldn't resist them for me- Katie sent me about 4 different parcels (unmarked with who from, I might add), with Doctor Who thingies over the course of 2 weeks, Char sent me some great books alongside some lovely Christmas presents as did Sophie who put together a lovely collection!
4. 2 good days at school: I've had two positive days- all classes have worked hard and done well, even the 2 classes I dread having! We were doing a listening paper to a Samba recorder piece and they did really well and concentrated hard- I didn't have to move anyone's name down to the negative colours on the reward chart! The choir had a good rehearsal today too-we're going to the Royal Albert Hall in March and we have about 15 long songs to learn- we got onto the 3rd song today!
5. The nicest surprise today! Our SENCO (that's the special educational needs coordinator) retired at Christmas and she will be much missed. We all joked that we'd miss her birthday in January where she always used to bring in Smoked salmon bagels and bacon rolls. Lo and behold, she turned up today on her birthday and we found the table full of the aforementioned! How generous and how delightful to see her!
6. The joy of a good book! My sister-in-law bought me a wonderful book for Christmas called 'The Book of lost and found' by Lucy Foley and it was a heartening, beautiful read. It made me think today. In registration with one class, they were all reading except one boy who NEVER reads when he should- he just flips through unsuitably hard books for himself- I am so glad to have that yearning to read which I know not everyone has or has cultivated!
7. For this week of introduction- I don't start all the clubs in the first week (except choir this time) and it will be nice not to have busy clubs this week!
8. For good colleagues; I do think I am lucky with our school- there is such a core of friendly staff- I've heard of unfriendly schools where it is horribly competitive (the teacher who started with me as an NQT 8.5 years ago left in the summer and she says her new school is really cliquey. I am so glad that ours isn't like that.)
9. Youtube! I am watching 'Planet of the Spiders' which I've never seen before- it was Jon Pertwee's swan song Who episode!
10. The joy of opening my email and seeing witty, kind and supportive comments from all you!
